Instructions for Hermle Astrolabium 2000
Quartz regulated Astrolabium
1) Inserting battery (C-size)
Insert battery in the base of the clock according to the symbol in the battery holder. Use a Duracell alkaline battery.
The clock will run about 1 1/2 to 2 years with one battery.
2) Sun
Due to the weight of the sun (gold-colored brass ball) we have packed it separately in the lower part of the styrofoam. Please take out the sun carefully and put it on the axle in the center.
The styrofoam block between the brass-colored calendar part and the wheels has to be removed carefully.
3) Setting time
Set the time of clock by turning the minute hand (long hand) clockwise or counterclockwise. Do not touch the hour hand (short hand).
4) Setting day and month
Set day and month by turning the gear wheel carrier (where the black day indicator is located). You can turn
it clockwise or counterclockwise to get to the correct date.

5) Setting moon
Set moon by rotating its carrier around the earth. You can find the moon phase in your daily newspaper.
The moon assembly is mounted on a friction bushing and you have to hold the big wheel underneath the earth
globe when you turn the moon around the earth to set the moon phase.
If full moon, the silver side of the moon should face the sun and the earth will be between the moon and the
sun. If you have new moon, the black side of the moon is facing the earth and the moon is located between the
earth and sun.

6) Setting earth
Now turn the earth, which has a friction bushing, according to your location and according to the time of day.
For example, if you live in the United States, rotate the earth so that your state directly faces the sun at
noon.
